PRETREATMENT SYSTEMS

Product preparation is key!

Pre-cleaning removes the dust and dirt on body-in-white from the previous processes. Phosphate pretreatment assists good paint adhesion and resistance against corrosion. Electro-deposition ensures uniform primer coating on the surface.

GIFFIN has a solution to process any size part whether ….plastic, carbon steel, aluminum, or coated steel.

From skid mounted units, to large customized systems that include both phosphate and electrodeposition, every system is carefully designed to meet the rigorous demands of pre-treatment processes.

From the most complicated, to the most basic of systems, every aspect of design is taken into consideration. Size and production volume, to the level of cleaning and rinsing, to the type of underlying process coating desired, each process step is engineered to conform to your

specifications.

Pre-Cleaning

At the precleaning stage, heavy contamination of the body shop is removed to extend the life of degreasing baths of pretreatment stages.

Methods followed for precleaning:

  1. Manual precleaning with high-pressure devices
  2. Brush cleaning using some chemical
  3. Low and high-pressure spray or dip cleaning or
  4. Combination of methods

Phosphate & Electro-Deposition

GIFFIN has experience in iron phosphate, zinc phosphate, thin film technologies, electrodeposition, autophoretic, and flow coating just to name a few of the many pre-treatment options. From all spray concepts, dip concepts, to a combination of both, we can provide a solution to fit your bill of process.

Our team can address all ancillary requirements, including heating and cooling requirements, filtration, process times and temperatures, exhaust rates, and chemical supply and process waste handling.

Pre-Treatment processes to suit product application:

  1. Manual with high pressure equipment
  2. Spray in either intermittent or a continuous straight-through operation.
  3. Combined spray and dip
  4. Full immersion with horizontal, vertical, or rotational dip

Pre-Treatment system designed is aimed at:

  1. Reduction of Water usage
  2. Reduction of chemical carry-over / cross-contamination
  3. Improvement of Phosphate finish
  4. Reduction in waste and sludge volume and efficient disposal
  5. Low energy consumption
